Eagle Pass High School Eagles Senior and Cheer Team Captain, Jennah Vieve Chavarria, dream to become a college cheerleader with the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns Cheer Team came true on April 15, 2025 when she received notice after an intensive and highly competitive three stage tryout that she had been selected to the prestigious and elite Texas Longhorns Cheer Team for the 2025-2026 school year.
‘I am super excited and deeply honored to have been selected to the Texas Longhorns Cheer Team for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year during my freshman year at UT at Austin,” Jennah Vieve Chavarria, said. “It has been my dream to become a collegiate cheerleader with the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns,” Chavarria added. This journey for Jennah started at the tender age of three years old when she joined her first cheer team, taking 15 years of hard discipline, dedication, and work to fulfill. “All the hard work and practice has definitely been worth it,” Chavarria noted.
Jennah started with Extreme Cheer Stars under the tutelage of Claudia Villa and went on to earn All-Star Cheerleader recognition for nine years. She was on the Liberty Elementary Cheer Team from first through sixth grade (Captain 6th grade) and on the Eagle Pass Junior High Cheer Team for two years (Co-Captain 8th grade). Her love of cheerleading caused her to seek advance training and skills, joining Spirit Evolution Cheer under the leadership of Juan Manuel “J.M.” Farias, Jr. at the age of 13. “J.M. Farias has been my mentor and advisor during the past five years, guiding me to excel in the highest competitive national cheer levels,” Chavarria said. She has been named an All-American Cheerleader by the elite National Cheer Association during her senior year at Eagle Pass High School.
“I greatly appreciate all the teaching and mentoring J.M. Farias has provided me these past years. He was the first Eagle Pass High School alumni to make and become a cheerleader at the University of Texas at Austin. And I cannot believe that I am now following in his footsteps in becoming the second Eagle Passan to be selected to the Texas Longhorns Cheerleader Squad,” added Chavarria. “I look forward to advancing my cheerleading skills and technique with the UT Longhorns Cheer Team. I hope to inspire young generations of girls and boys to follow their dreams and through hard work and discipline their dreams do come true,” Chavarria said.
Chavarria will be signing her National Letter of Intent to join the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns Cheer Team on May 14, 2025 at 1:45 p.m. in a ceremony to be held at Eagle Pass High School.
Chavarria is an exemplary role model and student at Eagle Pass High School, excelling in her academic, athletic, and extracurricular pursuits. She will graduate on May 24, 2025 as a top five percent honors graduate, ranked No. 22 in her class out of 577 students with an amazing Grade Point Average of 106.6666. She is a 12 year Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society Chapter at Eagle Pass High School. She also is the Captain of the Eagle Pass High School Eagles Cheer Team her senior year and was Co-Captain her junior year.
Jennah Vieve Chavarria is the daughter of Orlando and Gloria Chavarria of Eagle Pass, Texas. She has two siblings, Jazmin Chavarria, and Orlando Chavarria, Jr. She credits her parents and siblings for third constant love and support of her dreams and activities. She thanks all her teachers, cheer coaches, counselors, and friends for their unwavering support through the years.
Chavarria had to earn her selection to the Texas Longhorns Cheer Team during a highly competitive three stage tryout. She had to submit a video of her cheer skills, participate in an in-person cheer tryout, and be interviewed. Over 100 students participated in the competitive tryouts. She is only one of 15 new students selected to join the Texas Longhorns Cheer Team after a grueling tryout process. She has been invited to attend on May 4, 2025 a Welcome Session to the Texas Cheer Team in Austin. She will participate in an intensive one week Cheer Team camp during the summer before joining the squad in August as a freshman student. Once the school year begins, the Texas Cheer Team practices regularly and participates in many university and community events.
Jennah has been admitted into the UT at Austin School of Education where she plans to major in Kinesiology and Health Applied Movement Sciences. Her career goal is to become a Doctor of Occupational Therapy.
