Liberty Elementary Captures Eagle Pass Independent School District 46th Annual U. I. L. Elementary Meet Championship

Over 400 of the best and brightest students among the 15 elementary schools of the Eagle Pass Independent School District participated in the 46th Annual Elementary University Interscholastic League (U. I. L.) Elementary Meet on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at C. C. Winn High School with Liberty Elementary capturing the first place championship at the academic decathlon, edging Armando Cerna Elementary by a mere five points to clinch the sweepstakes trophy.
Liberty Elementary scored 236.5 points compared to second place Armando Cerna Elementary who scored 231.5 points, followed by third place finisher Rosita Valley Elementary with 202.5 points, fourth place was Graves Elementary with 168 points, fifth place was Benavides Heights Elementary with 161.5 points, and Pete Gallego Elementary placed sixth with 123 points.
Ray Darr Elementary was seventh place with 98 points compared to Nellie Mae Glass Elementary in eighth place with 94 points, Perfecto Mancha Elementary placed ninth with 92 points, and Seco Mines Elementary nabbed tenth place with 72 points.
Juan Seguin Elementary placed 11th with 56 points compared to Sam Houston Elementary 12th place finish with 54 points, Kirchner Elementary came in 13th place with 42 points, Henry B. Gonzalez placed 14th with 38 points, and San Luis Elementary finished 15th with 36 points.
Eagle Pass Independent School District Superintendent Samuel Mijares presented the top six schools with trophies at the awards ceremony.. Each participant that finished within fourth to sixth place in their competition category received a medal while first to third place contestants received a trophy.
The 46th Annual Eagle Pass Independent School District U. I. L. Elementary Meet was co-hosted by Graves Elementary and Nellie Mae G;lass Elementary, decorating the event venue with a beautiful Super Bowl theme in honor of Super Bowl LIX weekend.
