The Eagle Pass Business Journal has been authorized by Jesus Casas, CPA, to announce his candidacy for Mayor of the City of Eagle Pass, Texas in this publication.
The City of Eagle Pass is poised for economic growth and prosperity in the next four years, requiring a matured and experienced independent community leader to guide the citizens of Eagle Pass and their municipal government to this impending transformation such as local Certified Public Accountant and former Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector Jesus Casas.
Jesus Casas has a distinguished public government and business record, including being the owner of his own business, Jesus Casas, CPA, for 25 years, extensive entrepreneurial and investment experience, and a stellar public service career serving as former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maverick County Hospital District, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge System, Chairman of the City of Eagle Pass Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Board of Trustee of the Maverick County Appraisal District, Board of Trustee of the Maverick County Appraisal Review Board, Advisory Board Member of Candles for Life, Inc., and numerous other community organizations.
Casas has extensive experience working with public, private, and citizens stakeholders in fashioning creative and reasonable solutions to all types of issues through collaboration and unity among all interested parties, particularly taxpayers.
Education is a key issue of interest and importance of Casas, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a major in Finance. He successfully earned his Certified Public Accountant license upon graduating from UTSA. He also pursued Post-graduate studies in accounting with a concentration in government, financial, tax, and managerial accounting.
Casas is married to Anette Petters-Casas for 26 years and they have three lovely children, Analaura, Sebastian, and Leonardo Casas. He and his family are conservative Christian Catholics in the community. He enjoys music, art, dining, sports, and travel.
Casas stated “I firmly believe that my extensive experience in public service and private business has prepared me to guide and lead the City of Eagle Pass in the next four years and fashion solutions that will have significant impact on the future of the community. I genuinely believe that my leadership will bring a bright future and prosperity for all of the citizens of Eagle Pass. My personal integrity and competency are critical in providing strong and independent leadership for the citizens of Eagle Pass being able to attain the economic development and quality of life sought by everyone in the community. I strongly believe that I am the right leader at the right time for the citizens of Eagle Pass and our municipal government.”
“I have extensive experience with and providing leadership in various City of Eagle Pass governmental entities, including serving as Chairman of the Eagle Pass International Bridge Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the City of Eagle Pass Board of Adjustment and Appeals. I also am experienced with public health as I served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maverick County Hospital District. I have invaluable experience handling the ad valorem tax rates and tax issues serving as Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector and as a Board of Trustee of the Maverick County Appraisal District and the Appraisal Review Board. All key issues for voters and taxpayers in this election.”
