Eagle Pass Water Works System Hosts 9th Annual Water and Wastewater Regional Conference

Over 300 water and wastewater professionals attended the 9th Annual Water and Wastewater Regional Conference hosted by the Eagle Pass Water Works System during February 19-21, 2025 at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade, announced Jorge Barrera, General Manager of Eagle Pass Water Works System.
Water and Wastewater professionals from Central and South Texas annually meet in Eagle Pass to discuss the latest issues regarding water and wastewater systems, technology, financing, and regulatory issues.
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. welcomed the conference attendees on Thursday, February 20, 2025 to the City of Eagle Pass and thanked them for selecting Eagle Pass as the host city for their 9th Annual Regional Conference.
Eagle Pass Water Works System General Manager Jorge Barrera presented a summary of the many exciting and interesting seminars scheduled during the regional conference at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass.
Conference attendees began arriving and registering on Wednesday, February 19th at the International Center for Trade. Following registration, conference attendees were hosted a reception and dinner at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel by the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas.
The conference seminars began early in the morning of Thursday, February 20th, with two separate tracks of seminars simultaneously held at the International Center for Trade. Among the topics presented included water rights in Texas, non-revenue water losses, grant solutions for cleanup costs, replenishing utilities work forces, regional seawater desalination projects, operating an efficient pumped equipment, the essentials of cross-connection controls, best jetting production to keep wastewater lines clean, workplace safety, how to stop water infiltration, financial assistance programs, managing energy system and saving money, how water systems may take advantage of Artificial Intelligence revolution, asset management to preserve critical tank infrastructure in water systems, new technology and innovations for lift stations, best practices to prevent sewer overflow, pressure management in water systems, and other relevant topics.
Conference attendees enjoyed a reception mixer on Thursday, February 20th, in the evening at the Que Pasa Lounge at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino with live and disc jockey music, food, and refreshments.
The regional water and wastewater conference closed on Friday, February 21st, with a group breakfast at the International Center for Trade and a general plenary session of all attendees featuring awards, prizes and raffle winners, announcements, and exchange of information and contacts among attendees.
The regional conference featured a water and wastewater trade show and exposition with over 50 vendors participating and promoting their services, goods, equipment, technology, and latest innovations.
The 9th Annual Waste and Wastewater Regional Conference held during February 19-21, 2025 at the Eagle Pass International Center for Trade was a great success, according to Jorge Barrera.
