Maverick County Elected Officials Sworn-In on January 1, 2025

All Maverick County, Texas publicly-elected officials who were elected or re-elected at the November 5, 2024 Texas General Election were officially sworn-in on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 or shortly thereafter.
Among the Maverick County publicly-elected officials scheduled to be sworn-in on January 1st include 293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna; Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber; Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 1 Gerardo “Jerry” Morales; Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 3 Olga M. Ramos; Maverick County Attorney Jaime “A.J.” Iracheta; Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector Ruben Montemayor; Maverick County Constable Precinct 1 Cecilia “Cecy” Maldonado; Maverick County Constable Precinct 2 Constable Alberto “Beto” De La Torre; Maverick County Constable Precinct 3, Place 1 Mario A. Hernandez; Maverick County Constable Precinct 3, Place 2 Abraham “Happy” Martinez; Maverick County Constable Precinct 4 Joe “Mike” Beattie; Maverick County Democratic Party Chair Juanita V. Martinez; Maverick County Republican Party Chair Sandra “Sandy” Sassano; and Texas House of Representative, District 74 Heriberto “Eddie” Morales.
293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna was sworn-in by his wife, Norma Serna, a former Mayor of Crystal City, Texas, at the Zavala County Courthouse in Crystal City on January 1, 2025. Serna stated he is grateful and appreciative of the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s tri-county voters of Maverick, Dimmit, and Zavala for their trust and confidence in his public service as District Attorney for the past 36 years and looks forward to serving them for the next four years. Serna noted that this is his 10th consecutive term elected as District Attorney and his last as he does not plan to run again in 2028.
District Attorney Roberto Serna added “Honestly, being sworn-in as District Attorney for the 10th time (and my last time) in my hometown of Crystal City by my wife, Norma, is special. I am humbled to serve the great Counties of Zavala, Dimmit, and Maverick….During our next four years, we gladly accept again the challenge of prosecuting felonies in the 293rd Judicial District. We are one of the best District Attorney Offices in the entire State of Texas and proud of it. We have worked very hard for that and we have earned it. As your public servants, my office will continue to seek to protect all of our citizens. Public service is our passion and our calling….”
Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 3 Olga M. Ramos was sworn-in to a second four-year term on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 by 365th Judicial District Court Judge Amado J. Abascal, III at the 365th District Courtroom, located on the second floor of the historic Maverick County Courthouse in Eagle Pass, Texas. Ramos won re-election to a second four year term as Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 3 after defeating former Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo in the March 5, 2024 Democratic Party Primary Election and Republican Party nominee Carlos De Los Santos in the November 5, 2024 General Election.
County Commissioner Ramos thanked the voters of Precinct 3 for re-electing her to a second term and looks forward to bringing economic development to Maverick County and improving the quality of life of its citizens. Ramos was accompanied at the swearing-in ceremony by her husband, Ricardo Ramos, and her family, friends, and constituents.
Maverick County Constable Precinct 4 Joe “Mike” Beattie was sworn-in by County Judge Ramsey English Cantu on January 1, 2025 at the Maverick County Commissioners Courtroom in Eagle Pass. Constable Beattie stated he thanked the voters of Precinct 4 for bestowing their trust and confidence in him as their Constable and re-electing him to a four year term. Beattie was accompanied at the swearing-in ceremony by his wife, children, family, and supporters.
