The 2025 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is dedicated to two individual businessmen and philanthropists whom have made extraordinary contributions to the youth of Maverick County and the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show for many years, specifically Adan Ortiz, Jr., General Manager of Brown Chevorolet, Buick, GMC of Eagle Pass and Rodney Winn, General Manager of Ancira Eagle Pass Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, announced Armando De La Cruz, President of the Maverick County Junior Livestock Association Board of Directors.
Both Ortiz and Winn through their respective automotive dealerships are among the largest and most frequent donors to many activities involving the youth of the community, whether it be the junior livestock show, baseball, softball, football, basketball, band, cheerleading, dance groups, cancer prevention and support programs, and many more.
Eagle Pass youth and non-profit organizations activities, events, and groups have benefitted through the years from the unselfish support and financial contributions made by these two gentlemen and their businesses.
Adan Ortiz, Jr. is originally from Orange Grove, Texas, near Corpus Christi. While growing up in a rural community in Texas, Ortiz noted he participated in his community’s junior livestock show as an exhibitor and learned valuable educational values and traits. Ortiz stated “we see children as primary beneficiaries of our corporate donations. The Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and youth sports programs provide the knowledge and teamwork for our young children to be future college students or vocational craftsmen such as electricians, welders, computer system engineers, and leaders in society. We believe these activities have strong foundations and develop young students into tomorrow’s leaders.”
Rodney Winn grew up in the San Antonio metropolitan area and his parents were strong supporters of the San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo, exposing him at a young age regarding the fun and excitement of a livestock show. He stated that his children have participated in similar junior livestock shows like the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show. Winn stated he is fortunate to work with a corporate employer whom values the importance of contributing to the youth of a community and appreciates the educational development of students into future leaders.
Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association President Armando De La Cruz stated that the generous contributions of both Adan Ortiz, Jr. and Rodney Winn and their corporate enterprises to the junior livestock show and its youth participants have contributed to developing successful and intelligent young students as well as the growth of the annual county livestock show. While many local and out of town entrepreneurs and businesses contribute to the overall success of the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show, “we can always count on both Adan Oritiz, Jr. and Rodney Winn and their businesses to go above and beyond the call of duty to support the youth of Maverick County and the junior livestock show,” added Armando De La Cruz.
“The Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association Board of Directors unanimously voted to dedicate this year’s 2025 livestock show and sale to Adan Ortiz, Jr. and Rodney Winn for their extraordinary contributions to the community and the show,” said De La Cruz.
The 2025 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale runs from Wednesday, January 22nd through Saturday, January 25th at the Zan Matthies Showbarn at Maverick County Lake in Eagle Pass, Texas. The MCJLS is open to the public and admission is free. Come on out and support our youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
