Sul Ross State University-Rio Grande College Fall 2024 Commencement Held December 14th

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College held their 2024 Fall Commencement at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas. The ceremony began with Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Jorge de la Garza, welcoming family, friends, and loved ones who filled the International Center for Trade in support of their graduates.

Once the posting of the colors and national anthem had been sung, SRSU President, Dr. Carlos Hernandez, opened with a few celebratory words, “Today’s graduates have achieved great things through hard work and determination, we are honored to serve a diverse student population” Many of the graduates are first generation, traditional, or non-traditional students who earned and completed the necessary academic requirements for their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. “I look out and see passionate, talented, and accomplished individuals,” voiced Vice Chancellor, Nelly, Herrera, J.D. as she addressed the graduating class, “you got here through your talents and the support of people who love you.” Before ending the ceremony, 830 Lobo Alumi Chapter, President, Jose “Pepe” Aranda welcomed the new graduates to the Lobo Alumi family by informing, “Together we can help sculpt the future of this great institution and our region.”
