Captain Amy Gonzalez Named Eagle Pass Interim Police Chief

On December 28, 2024, the City of Eagle Pass City Manager Homero Balderas announced the appointment of Captain Amy Gonzalez as the interim Eagle Pass Chief of Police, which takes effect on January 1, 2025. Captain Gonzalez is the first woman wnamed Interim Police Chief in the city’s history, making her appointment a historic achievement.
From the patrol division, the K-9 units, and administration, Interim Chief Gonzalez is a 25-year veteran of the Eagle Pass Police Department who has risen to the highest rank and will bring experience, dedication, and leadership.
“We congratulate Ms. Gonzalez on her selection and have full confidence in her ability to lead the department successfully,” informed Mayor Rolando Salinas, “Her extensive experience and leadership skills make her an excellent choice to guide our police department during this important transition.”
While the City continues its search for a permanent Chief of Police, Captain Gonzalez will be responsible for overseeing the department’s operations and administration, ensuring public safety maintenance.
