MCJLS Secretary Rosie Willars, together with the Board of Directors, made the formal announcement of the Board’s unanimous decision to dedicate the 2025 MCJLS to Rodney Winn and Adan Ortiz, Jr.
Rodney Winn stated that he was deeply honored to have been presented this dedication of the 2025 MCJLS to him and Adan Ortiz, Jr. Winn noted that he grew up as a supporter of the San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo through his parents in San Antonio. He added that his children also participated in junior livestock shows similar to the MCJLS. Winn concluded the MCJLS is an excellent opportunity for local youths to learn and grow.
Adan Ortiz, Jr. stated he grew up in Orange Grove, Texas, near Corpus Christi, and participated in his community’s junior livestock show. Ortiz noted that he genuinely thanked the MCJLSA Board of Directors for this honor. Ortiz added he loves working with all local youths, particularly the MCJLS participants, and stated “It is not the child who raises the animal, but rather the animal raises the child.” Ortiz concluded he wholeheartedly supports the MCJLS and all youth activities in the community.
Refreshments and food were served at the reception to all attendees, including sweet treats baked or prepared by Rachel’s Rum Cake.
All local and regional businesses, entrepreneurs, ranchers and farmers, investors, and philanthropists are cordially invited to register as buyers in the 2025 MCJLS and support the youths of Maverick County.
