Maverick County, Texas Final Results of November 5, 2024 Election

Maverick County Election Judge Enriqueta V. Collett announced that a record 16,127 ballots were counted in the November 5, 2024 General Election, surpassing the previous county voter turnout record of 15,346 set in the 2020 Election.
For President and Vice-President of the United States race, Republican candidates former President Donald J. Trump and J. D. Vance received a total of 9,282 votes (58.93%) compared to Democratic Party candidates Vice-President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz’s 6,368 votes (40.43%) while three other candidates received 100 votes. This is the first time in over 50 years or more that a Republican Presidential candidate receives a majority of the votes cast in Maverick County, Texas. Trump and Vance were declared the overall winners of the 2024 Presidential election.
In the United States Senator race, Republican incumbent Senator Ted Cruz obtained 7,285 votes (49.42%) compared to Democratic candidate Congressman Colin Allred’s 6,853 votes (46.49%) while Libertarian candidate Ted Brown received 585 votes (3.97%) and there were 19 Write-In votes. Cruz was re-elected to another six year term as U. S. Senator.
For the United States House of Representatives District 23 race, Republican incumbent Tony Gonzales garnered 9,014 votes (63.53%) compared to Democratic Party challenger Santos Limon’s 5,174 votes (36.47%). Gonzales was re-elected to another two year term as Congressman.
In the Texas State Board of Education District 1 race, Democratic Party candidate Gustavo Reveles received 6,647 votes (50.49%) compared to Republican candidate Michael (Travis) Steven’s 6,517 votes (49.51%). Reveles won statewide for this State Board of Education seat.
For the Texas House of Representative District 74 race, local and Democratic Party candidate Eddie Morales, Jr., garnered 8,911 votes (60.54%) compared to Republican Robert Garza’s 5,809 votes (39.46%). Morales won re-election for another two years.
In the Maverick County Sheriff’s race, Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Tom Schmerber handily defeated Republican candidate Jose Juan Betancourt with a total of 8,461 votes (57.82%) compared to Betancourt’s 6,172 votes (42,18%). Schmerber gets a fourth term of four years as Sheriff.
For the Maverick County Commissioner Precicnt 3 race, Democratic Party candidate and incumbent edged out Republican Party challenger Carlos “Carlitos” De Los Santos, receiving 2,182 votes (50.83%) compared to De Los Santos’s 2,111 votes (49.80%). Ramos narrowly won re-election to her second four year term as County Commissioner of Precinct 3.
Unopposed Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Roberto Serna for 293rd Judicial District Attorney easily won re-election with 9,609 votes (100%), earning another four year term as District Attorney.
Unopposed Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Maverick County Attorney Jaime “A. J.” Iracheta handily won re-election to another four year term, receiving a total of 9,112 votes (100%).
Unopposed Democratic Party candidate Ruben Montemayor for Maverick County Tax-Assessor Collector received a total of 9,799 votes (100%), winning his first term in office as County Tax-Assessor Collector.
Unopposed Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 1 Gerardo “Jerry” Morales automatically was re-elected to another four year term, garnering a total of 2,889 votes (100%).
In the Maverick County Constable Precinct 1 race, Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Cecy Maldonado defeated Republican candidate Pedro “Pete” Hernandez, receiving a total of 1,977 votes (53.20%) compared to Hernandez’s 1.739 votes (46.80%).
Unopposed Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Maverick County Constable Precinct 2 Alberto “Beto” De La Torre won re-election with a total of 1,999 votes (100%).
Unopposed Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Maverick County Constable Precinct 3, Place 1 Mario A. Hernandez automatically won re-election with a total of 2,638 votes (100%).
For the Maverick County Constable Precinct 3, Place 2 race, Republican candidate Abraham “Happy” Martinez upset Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Samuel “Sam” Chacon receiving a total of 227 votes (57.18%) compared to Chacon’s 170 votes (42.82%). Martinez is the lone Republican Party candidate of Maverick County to have won his contested election.
In the Maverick County Constable Precinct 4 race, Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Joe “Mike” Beattie handily won re-election to a second four year term as Precinct 4 Constable with a total of 2,075 votes (55.53%) compared to Republican candidate Hector “Big Rod” Rodriguez’s 1,662 votes (44.47%).
