New Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustee Morris Libson, Jr. Sworn-In

The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees on Thursday, September 5, 2024 appointed Morris Libson, Jr. as a new Trustee to fill the unexpired term of former Trustee Lupita Fuentes whom passed away on April 1, 2024. Fuentes’ Board of Trustee term of office expires until November 2026 and had remained vacant for five months until the Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustees agreed on Libson to fill that seat among many candidates considered.
Newly appointed Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustee Morris Libson, Jr. was officially sworn-in on Monday, September 9, 2024 by Deputy Superintendent Ismael Mijares at the Eagle Pass ISD Administrative Service Center and signed the appropriate Oath of Office documents required by state law. Libson is now officially an Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustee.
Libson was accompanied by his wife, Dora Elia Libson, at the swearing-in ceremony.
Libson’s appointment brings the Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustees to a full board of seven. Libson joins current Board of Trustees Jorge Barrera, Hilda P. Martinez, Christopher Hiller, Victor Perry, Jr., Dr. Hector Alvarez, Jr., and Glenna Purcell.
Four of the seven Board of Trustees are currently seeking re-election in the November 5, 2024 General Election, specifically Board President Jorge Barrera, Board Secretary Dr. Hector Alvarez, Jr., Christopher Hiller, and Glenna Purcell. All four incumbents have opponents in the general election.
Libson is a graduate of Eagle Pass High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A & M University and a Master of Business Administration from Sul Ross State University. He serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Compania de Gas (CONAGAS) in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. He also serves on the Board of Texas State Natural Gas and Nosbil, Inc. in Eagle Pass, Texas. He and his family own MVN Enterprises LLC in Eagle Pass.
Libson is active in both Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico civic and business organizations, including serving as President of the Piedras Negras Chamber of Commerce, the Piedras Negras Industrial Chamber of Commerce (CANACINTRA), the Piedras Negras Economic Development Association, the Eagle Pass-Maverick County Economic Development Alliance, and the Eagle Pass Babe Ruth Baseball League.
Currently, he is serving on the Eagle Pass Water Works and Sewer System Board of Trustees and the Sul Ross State University Four Year Committee, as well as in many other business and civic organizations in both the United States and Mexico.
He and his lovely wife, Dora Elia, are the proud parents of three children, Morris Libson, III, Veronika Lizzette Libson, and Nikolas Salomon Libson.
He and his wife, Dora Elia, have also been named the Citizens of the Year by the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce on two occasions.
Libson stated he looks forward to serving on the Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustees and serving the community.
