Eagle Passan O. J. Ruiz Blazing Trails at UTSA Roadrunners Cross-Country Team

Former Eagle Pass High School Eagles standout Cross-Country runner, O. J. Ruiz, is blazing trails on the college circuit while competing for the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners Cross-Country Team, earning eighth place at the recently held University of Incarnate Word Invitational with a time of 19.52.2 minutes on the four mile course to lead the UTSA Roadrunners to an overall team seventh place at the NCAA Division I Cross-Country meet.
Ruiz is a junior at UTSA and is the top Cross-Country runner on the UTSA Roadrunners team with an eight kilometer career mark best of 25.10.2 minutes last year.
At the University of Incarnate Word Invitational held on September 6, 2024 at the Windcrest Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas, Ruiz placed eighth out of 180 runners at the meet. He has developed into a top national collegiate cross-country runner during his first two years and is training during his junior year to hopefully qualify for the national NCAA Division I Championship.
Ruiz provides key leadership among his cross-country teammates at UTSA. He is a dedicated and disciplined scholar-athlete with the UTSA Roadrunners.
Ruiz is the son of Oscar and Sonia Ruiz of Eagle Pass, Texas.
