Celebrate Mexico’s 214th Independence Day Anniversary on Saturday, September 14th at Fiestas Patrias Celebration

The Consul of Mexico at Eagle Pass, Texas Vivian Juarez Mondragon cordially invites the public to celebrate Mexico’s 214th Independence Day Anniversary on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at San Juan Plaza from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the traditional “Grito de Independencia” and Fiestas Patrias, featuring a cultural Mexican fair with live entertainment, Mariachi musical groups, Ballet Folklorico dance groups, authentic Mexican food and refreshment booths, games and activities for children, presentation of the Othli Award, as well as a public health fair with local healthcare providers offering free health exams and information.
Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon stated the “Grito de Independencia” and Fiestas Patrias is a family event filled with music, live entertainment, Mariachi music, dance groups, Mexican food and refreshment booths, games and activities, and lots of fun for everyone in honor of Mexico’s 214th Independence Day celebration.
Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon and her dedicated staff at the Mexican Consulate have organized an outstanding program for the Fiestas Patrias on Saturday, September 14th. Admission to the event is free, except there may be a charge for food and refreshments purchased at the food booths.
The program on September 14th commences at 6 p.m. with a presentation of the DIF Folkorico Dance Group “Somos Todos” of Piedras Negras, Coahuila with traditional dances of the Sate of Coahuila; followed by the Piedras Negras Institute of Technology Musical Group of Piedras Negras, Coahuila; then the “Shining Stars” Dance Group will dance to “Arrinconamela;” followed once again by the DIF Folkorico Dance Group “Somos Todos” with traditional dances from the State of Jalisco; then an exclusive presentation by renowned Mexican singer Alan Rubio with a variety of traditional Mexican songs; followed by a dance presentation by Lety’s Dance Group of Eagle Pass; then the American debut of the University of Northern Coahuila Folklorico Dance Group “Raices de Mexico” with traditional dances from the State of Sonora; followed by the renowned Mexican musical group “Dominante” with a variety of Mexican songs; and then at 8:15 p.m. will be the presentation of the OHTLI Award by Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragaon to a citizen who has made extraordinary contributions to Mexican immigrants and culture.
The traditional “Grito de Independencia” will be presented at 8:30 p.m. by Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon at the gazebo at San Juan Plaza in Eagle Pass. The “Grito de Independencia” is a reenactment of Mexican Priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla’s Declaration of Independence from Spain on September 16, 1810 in the town of Dolores, Hidalgo, Mexico, igniting patriotism among all Mexicans for independence from Spanish foreign rule in their own homeland.
Following the traditional “Grito de Independencia,” the program will continue with the American debut of the renowned Mariachi TECQuiero Group from the Monclova Institute of Techonology of Monclova, Coahuila, followed by a second presentation of the University of Northern Coahuila Folklorico Dance Group “Raices de Mexico” with traditional dances from the State of Jalisco, and the closing of the program at 9:30 p.m. with the second presentation by the Mexican musical group “Dominante” until 10 p.m.
The September 14th “Grito de Independencia” and Fiestas Patrias will certainly provide fun and entertainment for the entire family and all who attend it.
