2024 Eagle Pass Winn High School Mavericks Football Schedule Announced

Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Mavericks Head Football Coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator Rene Ramirez announced the 2024 football schedule, featuring 10 games including two non-district and eight district games.
The Winn Mavericks will hold two scrimmages before kicking off the 2024 regular season. First, on Friday, August 16, 2024, the Mavericks will scrimmage against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats at Carrizo Springs, Texas at 6 P.M. at Joe Frank Carter Stadium. The second scrimmage is on Thursday, August 22, 2024 versus the Laredo LBJ Wolves at 6 P.M. at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Complex Center.
The Mavericks first regular season game is the 18th Rivalry Meeting between the Mavericks and cross-town rival, Eagle Pass Eagles, on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 7 P.M. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Mavericks will seek their first victory of the season and of this storied-rivalry against the Eagle Pass Eagles. The Eagles rivalry game is a non-district game for the Mavericks.
The second week of the regular season, the Mavericks battle the Uvalde Coyotes on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 7 P.M. at the famed Honey Bowl in Uvalde, Texas. The Mavericks will seek a win in their final tune-up and non-district game of the season to prepare for a highly competitive district schedule in District 14-5A, Division I.
The Mavericks kick-off District 14-5A, Division I competition in the third week of the regular season on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 7:30 P.M. against the Southwest Legacy Titans. The Mavericks will battle for their first district win under new head coach Rene Ramirez versus Southwest Legacy Titans.
The following week the Mavericks will enjoy an Open Week during the fourth week of the regular season and seek to make adjustments according to their strengths and weaknesses while preparing for a brutal seven consecutive district games schedule to close out the season.
After open week, the Mavericks will host the San Antonio John Jay Mustangs in a district game during the fifth week of the regular season on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 7:30 P.M. at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. The San Antonio John Jay Mustangs are a new addition to District 14-A, Division I after U. I. L. realignment this year.
In the sixth week, the Mavericks will host the Laredo Cigarroa Toros on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 7:30 P.M. in a district game at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Mavericks will seek to earn a win in “The Battle of the Bulls,” Mavericks vs. Toros.
In the seventh week, the Mavericks travel to Laredo, Texas to battle the Laredo Nixon Mustangs on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 7:30 P.M. in a district game at Shirley Field.
For the eighth week, the Mavericks return to Shirley Field in Laredo, Texas to battle the Laredo Martin Tigers in a district game on Friday, October 17, 2024 at 7 P.M.
In the ninth week of the season, the Mavericks return to Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium to host the San Antonio Southwest Dragons on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 7 P.M. in another key district game.
On the tenth week of the season, the Mavericks will board a charter bus to travel to San Antonio, Texas to play the San Antonio Southside Cardinals in a district game on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 7:30 P.M.
The Mavericks conclude the regular and district season in the 11th week at home hosting the San Antonio South San Bobcats on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 7:30 P.M. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium. The South San Bobcats game has been designated as Homecoming for the Mavericks. The Mavericks will seek to earn the win during Homecoming and qualify for the state playoffs.
