Southwest Texas College at Eagle Pass Holds Summer 2024 Powerline Technician and Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Programs Graduation

On July 11, 2024, the Southwest Texas College held its graduation ceremony for the Summer 2024 Powerline Technician and Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas.
“We would like to welcome you to our summer 2024 Powerline Technician graduation and our inaugural and very first Electrical Program graduation,” remarked the Workforce Training and Development Director for the SWTC, Kristel Sanchez, “we want to thank all the families for making it out here today to celebrate your graduates”.
The Powerline Technician Program included a 14-week course with 10 weeks of classroom preparation and 4 weeks of fieldwork training. The program description states, “Upon successful completion of the course, graduates will receive a Southwest Texas Junior College Certificate in Lineman Training, take the Texas Department of Transportation written and driving tests for a class A CDL, acquire First Aid/CPR certification, be OSHA 10 and Forklift Operator certified, and be qualified for entry-level employment as a lineman’s apprentice.”
The Powerline graduates for the 2024 Summer Program include Jorge R. Garcia, Mike Garcia, Alfonso Martinez, Olivares Melgar, and Ervey Villarreal.
The Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a 12-week training course that provides students with preparation and a gateway to success. This was the first session of the Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program for the SWTC with an excellent graduating class.
The Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship graduates for the 2024 Summer Program include Jorge Garcia, Manuel Garza, Eduardo Jimenez, Dariela Maldonado, Ismael Mendoza, Esequiel Navejas, Jesse Sanchez, Claudia Talamantes, and Salvador Vazquez.
“Each of you has a story and a journey of struggles,” informed the Eagle Pass City Manager, Homero Balderas, “success is hard work and earned. Stay humble, stay curious, and always remember where you came from. Congratulations class of 2024.”
