The Maverick County Democratic Party hosted three Democratic Party Congressional Candidates for a greet and meet reception held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at a local restaurant in Eagle Pass, Texas, featuring Congressional District 23 candidate Santos Limon, Congressional District 10 candidate Theresa Boisseau, and Congressional District 27 candidate Tanya Loyd, announced Juanita V. Martinez, Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson.
Candidate Santos Limon is seeking to unseat Republican Congressman Tony Gonzales in District 23, which includes Eagle Pass and Maverick County, in the November 5, 2024 General Election. Limon, an engineer, is focusing in bringing economic development to the District 23, particularly the U.S.-Mexico border, development of transportation infrastructure connecting the border communities with the major transportation routes of the United States, Canada, and Mexico, education, healthcare services, and immigration law. “We’re here to bring the federal government funding for District 23,” said Limon. ‘“We don’t have the right people out there (Congress),” added Limon.
Limon noted that the 23rd Congressional District has reportedly 17.1 percent of its population living below the U.S. poverty level and only has a median household income of $64,000. He added that high school is the highest level of education for 26 percent of the District 23 population. Limon noted there is much work and progress required to bring District 23 on par with the rest of the State of Texas and the country, urging all Democrats to work together and coming out to vote in the General Election on November 5, 2024.
Limon thanked fellow Democratic Party candidates Theresa Boisseau and Tanya Loyd for joining him in Eagle Pass to develop an alliance of Democratic Party candidates and strategy in bringing progress to Texas Congressional Districts.
“Texas needs a lot of help from the federal government,” added Juanita V. Martinez.
Guests enjoyed discussing the needs and wants of the Democratic Party members and strategizing on how to bring that change to fruition.
Refreshments were served to all attendees at the event.
