The Maverick County, Texas primary run-off election polls closed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, but an unforeseen situation arose when the electronic ballot tabulation machine experienced technical difficulties and malfunctioning during the early vote ballot counting process, requiring that a technician be summoned to fix the machine.
The candidates and their supporters, families, and news media anxiously awaited for the announcement of the early voting results shortly after 7 p.m., but it wasn’t until 11:55 p.m. on May 28th that Election Judge Enriqueta V. Collett announced that the electronic ballot tabulation machine continued to have technical difficulties and that the Election Administrator and herself decided to conduct a manual hand count of all the ballots cast in the Democratic Party Primary Run-Off election.
There are two contested races in the Democratic Party Primary Run-Off election in Maverick County, specifically the Maverick County Tax Assessor Collector between incumbent Asalia Casares and challenger Ruben Montemayor and the Maverick County Constable Precinct No. 1 between incumbent Cecilia “Cecy” Maldonado and challenger Ignacio Vasquez, Jr.
Election results should be announced early in the morning hours of Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Stay tuned for the election results.
