Alyssa Nicole Barrientos to Graduate from Boston College

Eagle Pass High School Class of 2020 Salutatorian, Alyssa Nicole Barrientos, will graduate on Monday, May 20, 2024 from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Sociology and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies, announced Boston College President William P. Leahy, S. J.
Barrientos is the recipient of the prestigious 2024 Lynda Lytle Holmstron Award for writing the best undergraduate research paper on Gender Issues, entitled “Femicides in Mexico.” Dr. Sarah Babb, Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at Boson College, nominated Alyssa Nicole Barrientos for the coveted award.
Alyssa Nicole Barrientos is the daughter of Romelia Esquivel Barrientos and Roberto Barrientos, Jr. of Eagle Pass, Texas. She has two brothers, Luciano Esquivel and Roberto Barrientos, III, of Austin, Texas. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Luciano Esquivel of Eagle Pass while her paternal grandparents are the late Roberto Barrientos and Irma Barrientos of Eagle Pass.
While a student at Boston College, Barrientos participated in several internships to assist her develop and hone her intellectual and political interests while learning about public government, American legal and democratic principles, immigration issues, and communications.
Barrientos had the good fortune to intern and work for both United States Senators from the great state of Massachusetts, Senator Elizabeth Warren during the Summer of 2023 and Senator Edward J. Markey during the Fall of 2023 at their respective Boston, Massachusetts offices.
During the Summer of 2022, Barrientos did internships with the Eagle Pass Business Journal and the Law Offices of Ricardo E. Calderon, PLLC. Since high school, Barrientos worked for a national restaurant franchise in Eagle Pass as well.
Barrientos has been admitted to law school and looks forward to attending law school in the Fall of 2024.
