Yolanda P. Ramon Seeks Election to Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 1
Former Eagle Pass Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda P. Ramon has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce her candidacy for Maverick County Commissioner Precinct No. 1 in the March 5, 2024 Democratic Party Primary Election, issuing the following statement:
“My name is Yolanda Perales Ramon. My parents are the late Eduardo and Maria de Jesus Perales. I have five siblings: Blanca, Eduardo, Isabel (Deceased), and Delfina. I am blessed to have one daughter, Mitzi Anali Ramon and two grandchildren: Yolitzi Iliana Balderas and Homero Balderas, Jr.
I have dedicated my professional life to educating the children in our community. I am currently the Principal at Eagle Pass Junior High.
In addition to 39 years of experience as an educator, I also served 15 years at H. E. B. prior to becoming an educator.
I also am an entrepreneur and businesswoman, owning a child and adult daycare business since 2000.
Previously, I had the privilege of serving the citizens of Eagle Pass for two terms, totaling eight years, as a City Council member of the City of Eagle Pass, including most of these years as Mayor Pro-Tem.
While as a City Council member, I supported progress, economic development, and enhancing the quality of life in Eagle Pass, including the development of the City of Eagle Pass Patsy Winn Sports Complex, the City of Eagle Pass Police Department Headquarters, the City of Eagle Pass Fire Department Headquarters, the renovation of the Eagle Pass Fire Department Station No. 2 at Second Street, the City of Eagle Pass Parking Lot at the intersection of Garrison and Adams streets, beautification of the City Park on Garrison Street across City Hall, the Cruz Antonio Munoz Gymnansium, the Camino Real International Bridge No. 2 Administration Building, the expansion of the Camino Real International Bridge No. 1 commercial lanes, the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 Steel Cleaning and Painting project, the Eagle Pass Art and Culture Center, two new luxury hotels for the community, hundreds of miles of street and sidewalk improvements, and multiple water drainage projects while balancing the fiscal budget.
With Maverick County facing a growing and vibrant future, I now like to use my extensive organizational and business management experience to benefit the citizens of Maverick County as their County Commissioner Precinct No. 1.
I humbly request for the confidence and vote of all Maverick County Precinct No. 1 voters in the March 5, 2024 Democratic Party Primary election. I am excited and enthused to bring new economic development and quality of life projects to Maverick County as your next County Commissioner of Precinct No. 1. I look forward to working with the citizens of Precinct No. 1 and Maverick County in bringing progress and improving the community’s quality of life.”
