Maverick County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 Board of Directors Election Upcoming

The Maverick County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (MCWCID) announced it will be holding a Board of Directors election on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at designated polling places, including Early Voting commencing on Monday, April 22nd through Tuesday, April 30th, at the MCWCID Offices located at 1622 Maverick Industrial Park Road (Radar Base) in Eagle Pass, Texas.
A total of three of the five Board of Directors seats will be on the ballot, including those held by Randy Edwards, Gabriel De La Cerda, and Juan Perez, Jr.
All three incumbents, Edwards, De La Cerda, and Perez, have registered for re-election to another four year term. Three other MCWCID members have registered for election to the Board of Directors, including Lalo Trevino, Trinidad Flores, and Louie Valderrama, who are challenging the incumbents. Trevino, Flores, and Valderrama seek to return the District to providing water to local farmers and ranchers through collaboration with state, local, and federal officials.
The three individual candidates who obtain the highest number of votes in the election will be elected to the three Board seats.
All MCWCID members who meet the eligibility to vote in the election must pre-register to vote with the District Office located at 1622 Maverick Industrial Park Road in Eagle Pass by the deadline of Thursday, April 4, 2024. Only District members who pre-register to vote will be allowed to vote in the Board election.
