The traditional annual Eagle Pass International Friendship Festival is scheduled to be held this year during March 22-31, 2024, announced Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Margie Montoya.
The 2024 Eagle Pass International Friendship Festival will feature the traditional amusement carnival during March 22-31, 2024 at the Fort Duncan Park behind Moncada Baseball Stadium instead of the City of Eagle Pass Shelby Park due to the unilateral seizure and control of the public park by Texas Governor Greg Abbott on January 10, 2024 for his exclusive use as a political stage against President Joe Biden and the United States government regarding immigration law enforcement.
The amusement carnival will have the latest mechanical rides, games, and food vendors for entertainment of the entire family. The carnival opens on Friday, March 22nd and runs through Sunday, March 31st, said Montoya.
The Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce is offering discount tickets for the International Friendship Carnival at its office located at 400 Garrison Street, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852, Telephone No. (830) 773-3224 until March 22nd at 2 p.m. or while supplies last, whichever occurs first. Come by the Eagle Pass Chamber office to take advantage of the discounted carnival tickets.
Following the opening of the International Friendship Festival Carnival, the largest parade in Eagle Pass, the International Friendship Festival Parade, will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. on Ceylon Street and downtown Main Street with a large contingency of entries from both the United States and Mexico. Make sure to bring the children, parents, and grandparents to watch the largest parade in Eagle Pass. Feel free to bring your lawn chair to enjoy the parade.
The International Friendship Festival in collaboration with the Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras International Good Neighbor Councils, the City of Eagle Pass, and the City of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico will host the 62nd Anniversary of the Abrazo de la Amistad on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1, featuring Eagle Pass attorney and community volunteer Ricardo Ramos as Mr. Amigo on behalf of Eagle Pass and Rodolfo Valdes Guillen as Mr. Amigo on behalf of Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
The annual Abrazo de la Amistad represents the close social and cultural friendship and economic interdependence between the two cities of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila for more than 175 years of being sister cities on the United States-Mexico border. Dignitaries from both cities and countries will attend the Abrazo de la Amistad ceremony and exchange a friendly hug to symbolize the irrevocable friendship between the citizens of both communities and countries.
The 2024 International Friendship Festival will close on Sunday, March 31st, with the final day of the amusement carnival.
Any person, entity, organization, group, or band from the United States and Mexico are cordially invited to register to participate in the 2024 International Friendship Parade by registering with the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce by March 15th either in person at their office on 400 Garrison Street or by telephone at (830) 773-2383.
