Eagle Pass City Council Approves New City Manager Homero Balderas’ Employment Contract

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas City Council unanimously approved at its Tuesday, February 20, 2024 special meeting the employment contract of new City Manager Homero Balderas, authorizing Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. to sign the new contract within the parameters discussed during Executive Session.
According to credible sources, the new employment contract for City Manager Homero Balderas calls for a three year term of employment at a base salary of $175,000 per year with fringe benefits such as health insurance and other benefits. The first day of employment was fixed to commence on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
Balderas was selected as the new City Manager by the City Council at their February 6, 2024 regular meeting after a 20 months long search to replace former City Manager George Antuna. Interim City Manager Ivan Morua served as acting City manager for this 20 months period. Morua will return as an Assistant City Manager.
Balderas stated he looks forward to working with the City Council, City Department Directors and employees, taxpayers and stakeholders in bringing economic development and improving the quality of life of local city residents and visitors.
Balderas was previously the Eagle Pass International Bridge System General Manager before selected as the new City manager.
Balderas’ first day in office started off with bang as City Finance Director and Business Manager Jesus Rodriguez, Jr. employment services with the City of Eagle Pass were terminated by the City.
