Lobo Alum Homero Balderas to Deliver Commencement Address in Eagle Pass Dec. 16th

Homero Balderas, a graduate of Sul Ross State University, will deliver the Fall commencement address in Eagle Pass on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. at the International Center for Trade.
Balderas was born in Dallas and grew up in Eagle Pass. As a migrant, he spent summers in Minnesota with his family, who traveled there for work.
He graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 2003 and attended Southwest Texas Junior College before entering the workforce after one year. Ten years later, he returned to his studies and SWTJC, where he earned two associate’s degrees. He then attended Sul Ross State and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration.
Balderas currently serves as the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge System Director, a position he has held for almost four years. Prior to that, he has served as the Purchasing Manager and Fixed Asset Coordiantor, also for the City of Eagle Pass, and previously for the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas.
Balderas worked for Wells Fargo Bank, Falcon International Bank and Vantage Bank before transferring to the public sector in 2011. He is a key advocate for growth and development for the City of Eagle Pass in his role as Bridge Director. He was awarded with the Sul Ross State University Spirit of the Scholar Certificate of Advancement for Exemplary Leadership Qualities in April 2023.
In his leisure time, Balderas enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, watching the Dallas Cowboys and exercising.
