Women’s Empowerment Luncheon Features Chief U. S. District Judge Alia Moses as Keynote Speaker

The Sul Ross State University-Rio Grande College Small Business Development Center (SRSU-RGC SBDC) Director, Elizabeth Pena, announced that Chief U. S. District Judge Alia Moses for the Western District of Texas was the keynote speaker at its Women’s Empowerment Luncheon held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade-West Room, in Eagle Pass, Texas with over 150 local women in attendance at the event.
The purpose of the Women’s Empowerment Luncheon is to celebrate and honor the achievements and strength of women in the community as well as to network amongst women entrepreneurs and leaders.
Chief U. S. District Judge Alia Moses, a graduate of Eagle Pass High School, Texas Woman’s University, and the University of Texas School of Law, discussed the valuable and unique experiences and perspectives women bring to every business and important decisions in society.
Chief Judge Moses discussed her education and personal experience as an attorney and the challenges she encountered in becoming a federal judge.
Chief Judge Moses shared invaluable insights and wisdom on why women are important in all decisions made in business, government, or society.
In her 37 years as a licensed attorney in Texas, Chief Judge Moses has served as an Assistant County Attorney, an Assistant U. S. Attorney, a U. S. Magistrate Judge, a U. S. District Judge, and now as the Chief U. S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas, becoming the first woman in 2001 to be named as a U. S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas and in 2023 as Chief U. S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas.
Earlier this year, Chief U. S. District Judge Moses received the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership Distinguished Public Service Award from her alma mater, Texas Woman’s University.
Following the luncheon, Chief Judge Moses personally met and greeted the attendees and gladly took photographs with those requesting one.
SRSU-RGC SBDC Director, Elizabeth Pena, thanked Chief U. S. District Judge Alia Moses for honoring them with her presence and words of wisdom at the luncheon.
