Fiestas Patrias Celebrates Mexico’s 213th Independence Anniversary at Plaza San Juan

Consul of Mexico Vivian Juarez Mondragon in Eagle Pass, Texas cordially invites the public to attend the Fiestas Patrias Celebration on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at San Juan Plaza in downtown Eagle Pass to celebrate the 213th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence with a full program of music, dance, fun games and activities for all, food and refreshment booths, and culminating with the “Grito de Independencia,” also known as the Declaration of Independence.
Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon is presenting a stellar program featuring an outstanding lineup of activities for the public’s enjoyment with free admission to the event at the historic San Juan Plaza in Eagle Pass, Texas. The Fiestas Patrias are a family-oriented program.
The Fiestas Patrias kick-off at 6 p.m. with the opening of all games, activities, food and refreshment booths featuring Antojitos Mexicanos, and welcoming of guests to San Juan Plaza.
The award-winning Bailando por Mexico Folklore Dance Company from Allende, Coahuila, Mexico will perform traditional Mexican folklore dances and music from 6:15 p.m. to 6:25 p.m.
At 6:25 p.m., Mexican artist Sandra Urbina will perform a potpourri of Mexican songs and music until 6:35 p.m.
The award-winning Bailando por Mexico Folklore Dance Company will return on stage at 6:40 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. with additional Mexican folklore dance and music from the State of Coahuila, Mexico.
At 6:55 p.m., the Shining Stars Dance Company will perform the traditional Mexican dance of “Los Machetes” until 7:00 p.m.
The Bailando por Mexico Folklore Dance Company return to the stage at 7:00 p.m. performing traditional Mexican dances from the State of Jalisco, Mexico.
At 7:10 p.m., Grupo VERZZO of Allende, Coahuila, Mexico will sing and dance Mexico’s leading traditional music and songs.
The highlight of the Fiestas Patrias will follow at 7:45 p.m. with an official ceremony involving public dignitaries and the traditional “Grito de Independencia,” also known as the Declaration of Independence, will be presented by Consul of Mexico Vivian Juarez Mondragon with the presentation of and waving of the Mexican flag declaring independence for Mexico.
At 8:25 p.m., the Grupo Voltaje from Allende, Coahuila, Mexico will perform traditional northern Mexico dances featuring Cumbias.
The Fiestas Patrias will feature and honor the Mexican city of Allende, Coahuila, Mexico with its Mayor, businesses, and dance and music groups in attendance during the event.
During the extraordinary entertainment lineup, San Juan Plaza will be completely transformed into a festive Mexican Fiesta Patrias featuring traditional Mexican Antojitos, refreshments, games, activities, and food booths for all to enjoy and experience an evening of Mexican culture, history, and music.
The public from Eagle Pass, Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and surrounding communities of Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, La Pryor, Uvalde, Brackettville, Del Rio, and the state of Texas are cordially invited to come out and enjoy an evening of fun-filled activities and outstanding entertainment lineup of artists and program.
