City of Eagle Pass Prepares for Inclement Weather

PRESS RELEASE. THE CITY OF EAGLE PASS EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
Eagle Pass, TX – The latest situation report from the National Weather Service indicates that Tropical Storm Harold has formed in the Gulf and is forecasted to make landfall along the lower Texas coast by midday today. There will be showers and isolated thunderstorms today across
portions of Texas including the Rio Grande Plains. Maverick County is considered a level 2 out 4 risk for excessive rainfall. Additionally, there is a level 1 out of 5 risk for isolated, short lived tornadoes and strong wind gusts in our region. Therefore, at this time the City of Eagle Pass recommends all residents to begin taking precautionary measures.
Some important reminders for all residents as we prepare for this upcoming weather are:
- Stay alert for updates provided by local authorities and from the National Weather Services as
the South Texas weather can change on any given notice - Pre-Plan for the risk of heavy rain and stay away from low-lying areas that tend to flood
- Please avoid unnecessary travel and stay off the streets
- Pack and prepare all medications
- Contact your elderly family members
- Don’t underestimate the power of water
- Do not drive through streets, roads, or highways with barricades
- Protect your family pets
- Sheltering will be made available if the need arises
