City of Eagle Pass Announces Details for Project Tango
PRESS RELEASE
Eagle Pass, TX – Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. and the City Council would like to congratulate Border Federal Credit Union for the expansion of a second branch in our city. Today, the City of Eagle Pass announced plans for the construction of a second Border Federal Credit Union in Eagle Pass. The BFCU expansion will be part of a new $5.5 million investment and will be located at 2344 El Indio Highway. The second branch will complement the banking services offered at their first branch located at 2080 North Veterans Blvd. The new 7,501 square foot facility in Eagle Pass will provide a full array of banking services. This major investment by BFCU will generate twelve (12) full-time jobs with an average pay of $19/hour and four (4) part-time jobs with an average pay of $15/hour.
The City of Eagle Pass – Economic Development Department continues to recruit a diverse group of new businesses through the execution of Chapter 380 Agreements. Additionally, with the partnership established with Maverick County Commissioners Court, it will also utilize the Chapter 381 Agreements. The Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 380/381, allows municipalities and counties the authority to create and provide economic development programs using loans and grants. This allows for the City of Eagle Pass and County of Maverick to facilitate business activity by diversifying the tax base, attracting new quality jobs, retaining, and growing local industries and developing the existing workforce.
“The City of Eagle Pass would like to commend the Border Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and Maria Martinez, CEO for their multi-million-dollar investment in our great city. The $5.5 million-dollar investment is a true sign of their trust and commitment to expanding their banking services in Eagle Pass,” said Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. “The construction of the new BFCU will contribute to the tremendous economic growth that we are experiencing in our great City of Eagle Pass.”
“On behalf of the City of Eagle Pass, we would like to thank Border Federal Credit Union for their large investment that will create new high paying jobs in our community. The major investment by BFCU signifies that the economy in Eagle Pass is on the right path to achieving economic prosperity,” said Ivan Morua, Acting City Manager.
