In Loving Memory of Enriqueta Garcia
Eagle Passans mourn the passing away of longtime Eagle Pass business woman, marketing representative and promoter, home health provider, and beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother Enriqueta Pompa Martinez de Garcia, age 67, on Sunday, July 16, 2023, in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
García was born on August 3, 1955 in Cerralvo, Nuevo León, Mexico and immigrated to the United States as a teenager in the Windy City of Chicago, Illinois , where she met and married the love of her life, Mario R. García.
García was a bright young entrepreneur when she opened her first business in Chicago, Illinois, called Patti’s Record Shop. She loved music and enjoyed bringing the latest music genres to the diverse, multicultural community of Chicago.
She and her husband later relocated to Eagle Pass, Texas and opened a transportation company called Mario’s Transport for many years as well as developed into a national marketing representative and promoter of several home products and accessories such as Home Interiors. She loved organizing and promoting home parties and product demonstrations to women in the comfort of their homes, earning many local, state, regional, and national sales awards.
She and her husband also opened and operated Mario’s Hamburgers on Eidson Road in Eagle Pass.
García had natural leadership skills and a gregarious personality with high strung energy and an infectious smile and laugh.
García also possessed a compassionate and caring personality and chose to assist and care for elderly, disabled, or sick people, becoming a home health provider for a local home healthcare agency.
She believed in and cared passionately for her family, patients, customers, friends, and those in need of assistance.
She lived an extraordinary life filled with many memorable experiences, moments, friends, and and acquaintances. She had the talent and wit to naturally take over any meeting, party, and gathering she participated in.
García is survived by her husband, Mario R. García, two children Patricia Faviola Hernández (Raymond) and Francisco Javier García, and one granddaughter Kassandra Elizabeth García.
She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Jesus Maria Pompa Guerrero and Theodora Martinez Pompa.
“My Mommy lived an extraordinary life and possessed a beautiful soul with the biggest smile and love like no other,” Patricia Hernández said. “Let’s rejoice, celebrate, and cherish all the lovely memories my Mommy shared with all who knew her and those she touched their hearts,” Patricia Hernández added. She will be greatly missed in our community.

Public viewing is on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. followed by a farewell serenade by a local Mariachi group.
Mass is on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1408 North Street, Eagle Pass, Texas. Following Mass, a luncheon reception to celebrate the life of Enriqueta García will be held at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Reception Hall.
At the request of Enriqueta García, her body will be cremated.
