Eagle Pass Independent School District Announces First School Day as August 14, 2023
Eagle Pass Independent School District Superintendent Samuel Mijares announced the first public school day for the 2023-2024 school year is going to be on Monday, August 14, 2023.
Mijares encouraged parents to register their children on-line through the Eagle Pass Independent School District website. Registration opens on July 31, 2023.
Mijares stated the Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustees and Administration have been diligently working on the District’s 2023-2024 fiscal budget during the summer while monitoring the 88th Texas Legislative Session which just ended in late-May 2023.
Unfortunately, the 88th Texas Legislature did not approve any pay increase for public school teachers despite having $35 Billion in reserve funds.
Mijares added that the District estimates approximately 14,000 students will be enrolled during the 2023-2024 school year within its 24 campuses.
New teachers in-service will commence on July 31, 2023 while returning teachers first day of in-service is on August 7, 2023.
Mijares noted the District had hired additional school security officers to bolster its Eagle Pass ISD Police Department.
He wished all students, parents, teachers, and employees a healthy and enjoyable summer vacations and looks forward to seeing them soon when the new school year starts.
