A group of undocumented immigrants from Venezuela and Honduras attempted to rush into the United States at the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 in Eagle Pass, Texas at the United States-Mexico border with Piedras Negras, Coahuila on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
The group of migrants included 37 people from Venezuela and Honduras who were in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico and rushed the Mexican-side of the international bridge attempting to seek entry into the United States, but U. S. Customs and Border Protection Officers stationed at the international boundary line repelled the migrant rush and detained at least 17 migrants while the remainder were detained by Mexican immigration authorities.
The U. S. Department of Homeland Security regularly conducts drills at all U. S.-Mexico international bridges to repel similar incidents, riots, protests, and unlawful activities, including at the two Eagle Pass international bridges.
In the past, similar migrant incidents at the Eagle Pass international bridges have been successfully repelled.
