Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks 2023 Football Schedule Announced

Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Mavericks Head Football Coach Eric Villasenor announced the 2023 Varsity Football Schedule. Texas high school football commences on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, with players eligible for strength and conditioning training and two-a-days starting on Monday, July 31.
The thundering Mavericks will participate in two scrimmages before opening the regular season, including one against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 6 p.m. and another against the Del Rio Rams and Fort Stockton Panthers on Friday, August 18 at 6 p.m. in Del Rio.
The Mavericks officially kick-off the 2023 football season hosting cross-town rival, Eagle Pass Eagles, in the 17th meeting of the Border Rivalry in a non-district game on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The following week, the Mavericks host the Uvalde Coyotes on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 7 p.m. in a non-district game at the Eagle Pass ISD Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in a game designated as Parents Night.
The Mavericks will have an open week following the Uvalde game before starting their District 14-5A schedule against the Laredo Nixon Mustangs on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 7 p.m. at the Laredo Independent School District Shirley Field in Laredo, Texas.
The Mavericks next host the San Antonio Southwest Dragons in a District game on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass,
The following week, the Mavericks travel to tackle the Medina Valley Panthers in a key District game on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 7 p.m. in Castroville, Texas.
The Mavericks next host the South San Antonio Bobcats in a District game on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass.
The Mavericks travel to Laredo the following week to clash against the Laredo Cigarroa Toros in a District game on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. at the Laredo ISD Shirley Field.
The Mavericks entertain the San Antonio Southwest Legacy Titans at home in a District game on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass.
The following week, the Mavericks travel to Laredo ISD Shirley Field to take on the Laredo Martin Tigers in a District game on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 7 p.m.
The Mavericks close out the regular and District season by hosting the San Antonio Southside Cardinals for Homecoming festivities in a District game on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Head Coach Villasenor noted the Mavericks have a solid core of returning lettermen in both offense and defense to compete in the perennially difficult District 14-5A and hopefully qualify for a state playoff berth in 2023. Go Mavericks!
