Eagle Pass Eagles 2023 Football Schedule Announced

Eagle Pass High School Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez announced the 2023 Varsity Football Schedule. Coach Gonzalez stated that all coaches and players report for football on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 with strength and conditioning drills at the local school campus from Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and two-a-days practices commencing on Monday, July 31 at 7 a.m. and in the afternoon.
Coach Gonzalez stated the Eagles will participate in two scrimmages with one being against the San Antonio Marshall Rams on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10 a.m. and a second scrimmage against the Laredo Martin Tigers on Thursday, August 17 at 7 p.m. before opening day.
The Eagles will officially kick-off the 2023 Football Season against cross-town rival Winn Mavericks on Friday, August 25 at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in the 17th Meeting of the Border Rivalry, also affectionately known as the Menudo Bowl among local football aficionados, for city bragging rights.
The following week the Eagles host perennial powerhouse Boerne Champion Chargers in a non-district game on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles will travel next to a neutral football stadium to play the Corpus Christi Moody Texans in a non-district game on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Jourdanton Independent School District Football Stadium in Jourdanton, Texas.
The Eagles will travel again the following week to tackle the Edinburg North Cougars in a non-district game on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the neutral site of Alice Independent School District Football Stadium in Alice, Texas.
The Eagles return home the following week to host the potent San Marcos Rattlers in the final non-district game on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
After a highly competitive non-district schedule, the Eagles open District 30-6A competition away against the pesky Laredo Alexander Bulldogs on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Complex in Laredo.
The Eagles will next battle District 30-6A nemesis Laredo United Longhorns on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 7 p.m. away at the Laredo United ISD Student Activity Complex in Laredo in another key district matchup.
The Eagles will host the rising Laredo LBJ Wolves for Homecoming Week in a key district game on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The following week the Eagles hit the road south to Laredo again to clash with the tough Laredo United South Panthers in a salient district game on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Laredo United ISD Student Activity Complex.
The Eagles close out the regular and district season at home against arch-rival Del Rio Rams on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 7 p.m at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles have a solid core of returning lettermen on both offense and defense to compete for the coveted District 30-6A Championship and qualify for the state playoffs in 2023. Go Eagles Baby!
