City of Eagle Pass Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony for Business Incubator Project

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony of its new $3,5 Million Business Incubator Project at the historic Riskind’s Department Store on Main Street in downtown Eagle Pass on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. stated the groundbreaking was “such a big day for Eagle Pass as the City takes on such an amazing project as the Business Incubator in downtown Eagle Pass.”
Mayor Salinas noted the realization of the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Business Incubator Project is a “team effort” by the City of Eagle Pass, the U. S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, U. S. House of Representative Tony Gonzalez, the City of Eagle Pass Economic Development Department, the U. S. Department of Agriculture, and others.
Mayor Salinas stated the mission of the new Business Incubator is “to facilitate the innovation, growth, and success of new businesses in the community.” The Eagle Pass Business Incubator will provide affordable office space, specialized training, mentoring, and a network of professional advisors and a cluster of growing businesses in our community.
Salinas added that four essential services to be provided by the Business Incubator include business development, networking support, educational programs, and facility-based services. The new Business Incubator interior will include 15,000 square feet with five office spaces for lease, two conference rooms, an open office area, one restaurant, two retail spaces, one ghost kitchen, and house the City’s Economic Development Department Office, and an expansion of the adjacent City Art and Culture Center.
The Eagle Pass Business Incubator project is funded by a $3.5 Million grant from the U. S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration through the CARES Act, a $51,354 grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture, and the City of Eagle Pass.
U. S. House of Representative Tony Gonzalez’s Regional District Director Regina Santos-Aviles stated Congressman Gonzalez congratulated the City of Eagle Pass and is truly excited to partner with the City of Eagle Pass in creating opportunities such as the Business Incubator.
Eagle Pass Department of Economic Development Director Arturo Marquez stated the City looks forward to working with local entrepreneurs and small businesses in creating economic development in the community. Marquez noted that the “entrepreneurship enthusiasm” in Eagle Pass is amazing and outstanding.
Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. was joined by Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda P. Ramon, City Councilman William “Billy” Davis, Maverick County Judge Ramsey English Cantu, County Commissioner Roberto Ruiz, former Mayor Luis E. Sifuentes, U. S. House of Representative Tony Gonzalez Regional District Director Regina Santos-Aviles, State Representative Heriberto Morales, Jr. Liasion Sandra Moreno, Trion Construction Representatives, and Interim City Manager Ivan Morua, and Economic Development Director Arturo Marquez in the historic groundbreaking ceremony.
Many local dignitaries, entrepreneurs, downtown business owners, and citizens attended the groundbreaking ceremony under a beautiful warm, sunny blue skies day in Eagle Pass.
Following the groundbreaking ceremony, participants and guests were invited to a reception inside the Eagle Pass Art and Culture Center, adjacent to the Business Incubator. Yes indeed, it was an amazing day for Eagle Pass.
