Seven Candidates Register for Two Eagle Pass City Council Seats

A total of seven candidates registered for two City of Eagle Pass City Council seats on the Saturday, May 6, 2023, Election at the Multi-Purpose Center, 480 S. Adams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Eagle Pass City Secretary Imelda Rodriguez.
For City Council Place 1, incumbent William “Billy” Davis registered for another term and will face Sandy Sassano, Chairperson of the Republican Party of Maverick County, and Mariano Flores for the position.
For City Council Place 3, four candidates registered for the open seat being vacated by Councilwoman Yolanda P. Ramon due to term limits, including Mario E. Garcia, Ricardo S. Lopez, Ana Herrera, and Ruben J. Camarillo.
Rodriguez noted that a proposed amendment to the City Charter clarifying the terms of City Council and Mayor terms will also be on the ballot in the May 6, 2023 City Election. Voters will either approve or disapprove (For or Against) the proposed City Charter amendment.
Rodriguez stated early voting will commence on April 24, 2023 and run until May 2, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center with a special Saturday voting day to be held on April 29th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
City Election Day is on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center. Following the closing of the election poll on May 6th, the ballots will be tabulated with the elections results presented.
Rodriguez encourages all City of Eagle Pass registered voters to participate in the May 6th City Election by coming out to vote for the candidates of their choice.
