Two Men Arrested for Discharging Firearm into Federal Agent’s Residence in Eagle Pass, Texas
Eagle Pass Police Department Police Chief Federico Garza announced at a press conference with local news media on Friday, January 27, 2023, that two men have been arrested with the alleged discharging of a firearm into the residence of a United States Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agent on Cantera Circle in Eagle Pass, Texas on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Garza stated the two men arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court at law.
Garza noted that the Eagle Pass Police Department Detectives, Maverick County Sheriff’s Department, and U. S. Homeland Security Investigations are collaborating in the investigation of the firearm shots fired at the federal agent’s residence, which caused a woman inside the residence to be grazed with a bullet wound on one of her legs.
Garza added that he is requesting the FBI and federal law enforcement authorities to assist with the investigation to determine if additional federal criminal charges may be filed against the two men.
Garza added that a third male individual was arrested with one of the two men in an automobile and the alleged firearm used in the shooting of the federal agent’s residence was found together with drugs inside the vehicle, charging the third man with drug-related charges.
Garza stated that there are multiple organized crime groups operating within the City of Eagle Pass involved in burglaries, thefts, drugs, firearm violations, and other criminal offenses. He vowed to tackle and eradicate all organized crime groups operating within the City of Eagle Pass in collaboration with all local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
The case remains under investigation.
