Thomas J. Mares Named Offensive Co-Most Valuable Player, 29 Eagle Pass Eagles Receive 2022 District 30-6A All-District Football Team Honors

Eagle Pass Eagles senior standout running back Thomas J. Mares was named the 2022 District 30-6A Offensive Co-Most Valuable Player by district head football coaches as a total of 29 Eagles received All-District Football Team Honors, announced Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez.
Mares and Atzel Chavez of Laredo United Longhorns were named as Offensive Co-Most Valuable Players in the just released 2022 District 30-6A All-District Football Team selections.
Eagles sophomore wide receiver Jose Hernandez was named the Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2022, according to district head football coaches.
Eagles junior quarterback Andres Garcia was named the Most Outstanding Quarterback in 2022.
Eagles junior wide receiver Wilfredo “Willie” Frausto was named the Co-Most Outstanding Wide Receiver together with Laredo United Longhorns Christian Saldana in 2022.
Eagles senior offensive lineman Derek Ruiz was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2022.
Four Eagles were named to the First Team Offensive All-District Unit, including senior wide receiver Kyle Gloria, junior slot receiver Sebastian Diaz, guard Isaiah Santos, and center Armando Moyeda.
Eagles junior defensive end Gunnar Caballero was named as the Co-Most Outstanding Defensive End together with Andy Torres of Laredo United Longhorns in 2022.
Eagles senior defensive back Robert De La Garza was named the Most Outstanding Secondary Back in 2022.
Four Eagles were named to the First Team Defensive All-District Unit, including junior defensive interior lineman Izhar Mauricio, senior inside linebacker Diego Villarreal, senior outside linebacker Jesse James Martinez, and junior safety Armando Lechler.
Two Eagles were named to the Second Team Offensive All-District Unit, including sophomore fullback Eduardo Valadez and senior offensive tackle Levi Lentz.
Six Eagles were named to the Second Team Defensive All-District Unit, including senior defensive interior lineman Freddy Gloria, senior defensive end Diego Martinez, junior inside linebacker Devonte Monsivais, senior outside linebacker Felix Samaniego, senior cornerback Adrien Morales, and senior place kicker Oliver Velez.
Five Eagles were named to the All-District Honorable Mention Team, including senior quarterback Issac Stanwick, senior wide receiver Chris Frausto, junior punter Willie Frausto, junior offensive tackle Emiliano Garza, and senior defensive safety Robert Gutierrez.
Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez was named Co-Coach of the Year together with Laredo United Longhorns David Sanchez in 2022 as both guided their teams to a District Co-Championship.
The Eagles enjoyed an outstanding football season in 2022 with an overall record of 9-2 and a 4-1 district mark, garnering the District 30-6A Co-Championship.
