In Loving Memory of Maria “Mary” Isabel Garza Escontrias

Mary Isabel Escontrias, 76, of Eagle Pass Texas, passed October 14, 2022 at10:30 am.
Mary Isabel Escontrias was born to Encarnacion Garza and Amparo Cruz Gutiérrez on September 5, 1946, in Eagle Pass, Texas. She graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1964 and attended Texas Woman’s University. She married Manuel Escontrias, Sr. in 1967, and they have lived together in Baytown, Texas for 54 years. Together they raised two children, Sylvia and Manny, Jr.
She is survived by her husband Manuel Escontrias, Sr. She also leaves to cherish her memory Aunt Refugio “Cuqui” Fernandez, Lawrence and Sylvia Gray, Manny and Silvia Escontrias, Luke and Ashly Bosworth, Peyton Escontrias, Taylor Almendarez, Lorenzo Almendarez, and Jaxon Bosworth; brothers Joe Roland and Beatrice Garza, Roberto & Anita Garza; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Encarnacion and Amparo Garza, sister Margarita Garza, brothers Rey, Ralph Sr., and Raul Mario Garza.
Mary Escontrias worked in banking for Capital Bank for 12 years. She truly enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great grandmother, and God mother! Family meals, entertaining and dining out made her smile! She was an expert at shopping, loving and providing for everyone that she had contact with. Mary also collected amazing sets of porcelain birds and had enough Christmas decorations for four households. She was also actively involved in Catholic Daughters of St. John’s Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Pi Sorority Member, and The Ladies Auxiliary of the Baytown Chapter of Professional Engineers.
