New Texas Department of Public Safety Eagle Pass Area Office Grand Opening Held

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) held the grand opening ceremony of the new DPS Eagle Pass Area Office, located at 5164 E. Main Street, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, announced Victor Escalon, DPS South Texas Regional Director.
Escalon stated the 86th Texas Legislature authorized funding for the design and construction of the new DPS Area Office in Eagle Pass. The new Eagle Pass Area Office has a total of 26,804 gross square feet and will accommodate the Texas Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, Texas Rangers, and Drivers License.
The new facility includes office spaces, conference and training rooms, evidence storage, interview rooms, 12 License and Permit Specialist Work Stations, Self-Service Kiosks, Driver License Testing area, Commercial Driver License testing lanes, fitness room, helipad, and a Mobile Command Trailer pad.
Father Robert James Hickle, OMI, of Our Lady of Refuge Church in Eagle Pass gave the Invocation. The Texas DPS Region III Honor Guard presented the Posting of the Colors. Eagle Passan Jessica Cavazos presented the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the National Anthem.
Featured speakers included Escalon, State Representative Eddie Morales, Jr., Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr., 293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna, and Eagle Pass Police Chief Federico Garza.
Also attending the grand opening were 365th Judicial District Judge Amado J. Abascal, III, 293rd Judicial District Judge Maribel Flores, Eagle Pass Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda P. Ramon, Maverick County Attorney Jaime “AJ” Iracheta, DPS state, regional, and local officers and employees, and many local public and civic leaders.
A formal ribbon-cutting was held in honor of the grand opening of the new facility in Eagle Pass.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were provided a tour of the new Eagle Pass DPS Area Office and served refreshments.
