The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees approved to name the inside loop at Seco Mines Elementary School, located at Diaz Street, in Eagle Pass, Texas in honor of long-time volunteer Margarita Banda at their Tuesday, June 21, 2022, regular meeting, announced Superintendent Samuel Mijares.
Ms. Margarita Banda volunteered for over 30 years at Seco Mines Elementary School as a school crossing guard and in many other supportive capacities serving the students of the school, said Mijares. She was an unselfish and dedicated person who loved the children of Seco Mines Elementary. She gave the best years of her life to support and serve the young students of Seco Mines as well as encourage them to succeed in their academic and personal endeavors.
The Inside Loop at Seco Mines Elementary School, where students are dropped-off and picked-up during school days, will now be recognized as the Margarita Banda Loop after the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the name dedication.
Family members of Ms. Margarita Banda and former students of Seco Mines Elementary were present at the June 21 Board meeting. The Banda Family members thanked the Board for their kind and generous dedication of the inside loop in honor of their late mother and grandmother who genuinely loved children and encouraged them to succeed in their studies and life.
