The Eagle Pass Fire Department announced that a Texas Army National Guard soldier is missing after jumping into the Río Grande River in Eagle Pass. Texas seeking to rescue a woman and two other individuals crying for help on Friday, April 22, 2022.
The U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Marine Unit stationed in Eagle Pass, Texas has joined the search and rescue mission of the missing Texas Army National Guard soldier amid the swift and treacherous waters of the Río Grande.
After two intense hours of searching for the missing soldier in the Río Grande waters, the rescuers have not been able to locate the soldier and have called for sophisticated underwater cameras to aid them in search of the Guardsman.
One possibility is that the Guardsman may have been dragged underwater by the weight of the persons whom he was seeking to rescue or the water spouts and currents of the Río Grande.
This tragic incident is a developing story and further updates will be reported as the rescue and search mission unfolds during the day and as authorities report to the news media.
