City Unveils “Greetings from Eagle Pass” Postcard Mural in Downtown Building

The City of Eagle Pass celebrated the unveiling of a beautiful “Greetings from Eagle Pass” Postcard Mural by internationally renowned artist, Victor Ving of New York City, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at a ceremony held at the site of the mural, 263 Jefferson Street, in downtown Eagle Pass.
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas stated the “City of Eagle Pass is very excited to have this new mural as part of downtown Eagle Pass and the promotion of the arts and culture in our community. He added that everyone in Eagle Pass and visiting Eagle Pass should stop by to admire and take their photos beside the “Greetings from Eagle Pass” Postcard Mural.
Salinas noted the postcard mural was made possible by a grant from Union Pacific Railroad and the outstanding work of City Grant Program Director Ronnie Rivera.
Muralist Victor Ving stated he was honored to come to Eagle Pass and paint this mural in downtown Eagle Pass as part of his “Greetings from Tour” across the United States. Ving added he hopes to see more murals painted in downtown Eagle Pass at other business or public space locations. Ving and his wife started the “Greetings from Tour” mural painting project in 2015 and have traveled throughout the United States painting murals in hundreds of communities.
Attending the unveiling ceremony of the “Greetings from Eagle Pass” postcard mural included Mayor Salinas, Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda P. Ramon, Muralist Victor Ving, City Manager George Antuna, City Economic Development Director Arturo Marquez, City Grants Director Ronnie Rivera, City Public Relations Director Aide Castano, State Representative Heriberto “Eddie” Morales, Jr., local artist Adrian, Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce representatives, local entrepreneurs and citizens.
City Economic Director Arturo Marquez stated the “Greetings from Eagle Pass” mural is another project to attract tourists and visitors to downtown Eagle Pass and to promote the arts and culture within the community.
Following the unveiling ceremony of the “Greetings from Eagle Pass” mural, guests and attendees were provided a reception at the City of Eagle Pass Arts and Culture Center, located at 364 Main Street, and served with refreshments and hors d oeuvres.
