Eagle Pass Eagles and Winn Mavericks Earn Bi-District Football Playoff Berths

Both of the Eagle Pass Independent School District high schools, Eagle Pass High School Eagles and Winn High School Mavericks, earned a Bi-District Football Championship berth in the 2021 Texas high school post-season in their respective classifications, 6A and 5A.
EAGLE PASS HIGH SCHOOL
The Eagle Pass High School Eagles finished in second place in District 30-6A and earned one of the four post-season playoff berths within their district after defeating arch-rival and district member, Del Rio Rams, by a score of 34-13 on Friday, November 5, 2021.
The Eagles finished the regular season with a 7-3 overall season record and a 5-1 District 30-6A mark.
The Eagles will face the San Antonio Marshall Rams for Bi-District on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The Eagles will seek to avenge an earlier season non-district loss to the San Antonio Marshall Rams 27-26 on September 3, 2021 in the Bi-District Championship game.
The Marshall Rams are 8-2 overall in the season and finished 6-2 in district to earn third place and the privilege to face the Eagles for the Bi-District Championship.
Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez stated the Eagles will be prepared and ready to play the Marshall Rams in the Bi-District playoff game on Friday, November 12. Gonzalez added the Eagles have enjoyed a great week of workouts in preparation for the Bi-District game against the Rams and are eager to avenge their earlier season loss, as well as advance to the second round of the state playoffs.

WINN HIGH SCHOOL
The Eagle Pass Winn High School Mavericks clinched the fourth place postseason playoff berth in District 14-5A, Division I with a thrilling win over the Rio Grande City Rattlers 27-6 on Friday, November 5, 2021, at home.
The Mavericks will battle San Antonio Highlands Owls for the Bi-District Championship on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 7 p.m. at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
The Mavericks enter Bi-District with an 5-5 overall season record and a 3-3 district mark while the San Antonio Highlands Owls have an overall record of 7-4 and a 6-2 district mark. The Highlands Owls finished as District Champions while the Mavericks finished fourth in the highly competitive District 14-5A, Division I.
Mavericks Head Football Coach Eric Villasenor stated the Mavericks Bi-District Championship game against the Highlands Owls will be a hard fought playoff game and the Mavericks have worked hard all week to prepare for the Owls. Villasenor added the Mavericks are excited to be playing the Highlands Owls for Bi-District and will seek to upset the district champion Owls.
