Three Year Old Child Drowns in Swimming Pool in Eagle Pass, Texas on May 20, 2021

Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Roberto De Leon announced at a press conference on Friday, May 21, 2021, that a three year old child (boy) tragically drowned at a swimming pool during a family celebration in Eagle Pass, Texas on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
De Leon stated the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department received an emergency telephone call at approximately 9:50 p.m. on May 20, 2021 requesting assistance concerning the drowning of the young child.
De Leon added that the City of Eagle Pass Fire Department dispatched an ambulance and the paramedics rendered CPR on the child at the scene and transported it to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center in Eagle Pass, Texas, where the young boy was pronounced deceased.
A Maverick County Justice of the Peace was summoned to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center to officially pronounce the child deceased.
De Leon noted that the tragic drowning of the child is under investigation by the Detective Division of the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department and the investigation results will be turned over to 293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna to determine if any criminal charges are warranted or not.
De Leon advised all Maverick County parents to always have one or more adults supervise children swimming in a pool or when playing near a swimming pool to avoid tragic accidents.
