Maverick County Elected Officials Sworn-In on January 1, 2021

Most of the newly-elected or re-elected Maverick County public officials in the November 3, 2020 General Election were sworn-in and administered their oath of office in separate ceremonies celebrated on Friday, January 1, 2021, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
One swearing-in ceremony was conducted by 293rd Judicial District Judge Maribel Flores who did the ceremony virtually through a Zoom Video Court Hearing for 293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna, Maverick County Attorney Jaime Ariel “AJ” Iracheta, and Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 3 Olga Ramos, individually each.
District Attorney Roberto Serna will serve another four year term representing Dimmit, Maverick, and Zavala counties. Serna has served 30 years as the 293rd Judicial District Attorney.
Maverick County Attorney Jaime Ariel “AJ” Iracheta won his first four year term as County Attorney, although he did serve as County Attorney during January 2018 through March 2019 by appointment of Maverick County Commissioners Court. Subsequently, Iracheta has served as an Assistant District Attorney with the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, a role that he will continue to serve while fulfilling his responsibilities as County Attorney.
Maverick County Commissioner Olga Ramos will serve her first four year term after defeating incumbent Commissioner Pete Venegas, Jr. in the March 3, 2020 Texas Democratic Party Primary Election and easily won election unopposed in the November 3, 2020 General Election.
A second swearing-in ceremony was presided by Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo on January 1, 2021 wherein several public officials were individually sworn-in personally at the 293rd Judicial Courtroom at the Maverick County Courthouse in Eagle Pass, as well as broadcast live on Maverick County Facebook Page.
County Judge Saucedo swore-in Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector Isamari Sanchez Villarreal, Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 1 Gerardo “Jerry” Morales, County Constable Precinct 1 Oscar “Ram” Ramos, County Constable Precinct 2 Alberto “Beto” De La Torre, and County Constable Precinct 4 Joe Mike Beattie.
County Tax Assessor-Collector Isamari Sanchez Villarreal will serve another four year term after winning unopposed in both the March 3rd Primary and November 3rd elections. She has served 39 years as a public servant in Maverick County.
Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 1 Gerardo “Jerry” Morales will serve another four year term, his third term.
County Constable Precinct 1 Oscar “Ram” Ramos will serve his first four year term after defeating incumbent Rudy Valdez in the Primary election and going unopposed in the November 3rd General Election.
County Constable Precinct 2 Alberto “Beto” De La Torre will serve his first four year term after defeating Denise Cantu in the Primary Election in a run-off and going unopposed in the November 3rd General Election.
County Constable Precinct 4 Joe Mike Beattie will serve his first four year term after defeating Hector “Big Rod” Rodriguez in the Primary Election run-off and going unopposed in the November 3rd General Election.
Other Maverick County elected public officials not sworn-in at one of these two ceremonies will be sworn-in this week or at designated ceremonies.
