Eagle Pass Police Department Crime Report
Saturday, October 10, 2020, 11:00 PM: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a grey colored Hummer H3 within the 600 block of Brazos Street pursuant to a traffic violation. The driver was identified as 37-year-old Jose Heriberto Mata of Eagle Pass. A computer inquiry on Mata revealed an active felony warrant for aggravated kidnapping from an incident which initiated an investigation of October 1, 2020. Mata was arrested and transported to the police department where he was magistrated for the 1st degree felony and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000.00 bond. Two females passengers were issued citations for open containers and released, the vehicle was impounded.
Sunday, October 11, 2020, 12:50 AM: Officers responded to the area of South Veterans Boulevard and El Indio Highway to assist Maverick County Sheriff’s units searching for a male subject wearing a yellow shirt. The male subject was reported involved in an assault and fled the scene. Officers encountered the male subject on El Indio Highway where he fled from officers but was apprehended. During his arrest, the male subject resisted and after a brief struggle was placed in hand restraints. 35-year-old Juan Antonio Guerra Jr. was transported to the police department where he was charged with evading arrest and detention and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $3000.00 bond.
Sunday, October 11, 2020, 6:25 PM: Officers responded to the 1400 block of Raintree Drive in regards to a reported man with a gun. Officers spoke with several witnesses and the suspect who was identified as 38-year-old Luis Alberto Perez of Eagle Pass. The investigation revealed Perez had brandished a firearm during a verbal argument with neighbors. Perez was arrested and charged with a Class B disorderly conduct-display of a firearm and 3rd Degree Felony retaliation charge due to a past incident. Perez was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a combined $15,000.00 bond for the two charges.
