The system has 15,900 residential meters, 1179 commercial meters and 201 governmental meters for a total of 17,778 meters.
EPWWS currently manages and services about 500 miles of water lines and 500 miles of sewer lines which include main lines, service lines, interceptors, transfer lines and more. We service an area from the aero stat past El Indio Townsite, all of City of Eagle Pass and all the way past Elm Creek.
EPWWS has never had to have water restrictions, boil water notices or any other major violations. EPWWS has been awarded national awards for outstanding work.
EPWWS manages and services 8 elevated water tanks (College Hills, Brown, Callejon Teran, Chula Vista, Deer Run, North Loop, Seco Mines and Vista Hermosa), 3 ground storage tanks (College Hills Ground, Industrial and Hillcrest), 3 pump stations ( Ella Heights, Hillcrest and Upper and Lower Zones Pump Stations).
EPWWS manages and services over 1580 fire hydrants in the City and County used for fire protection.
EPWWS manages and services 2 wastewater treatment plants (Main Plant and Ignacio Madera) and 1 Ultra Filtration Membrane Water Treatment Plant.
EPWWS manages and services 11 Lift Stations (Elm Creek, Thompson, Eagle Oil, Cenizo, Salem, Tierra del Sol, River, Orchard, Kickapoo, Chula Vista and Ignacio Madera).
EPWWS has 84 total full time employees which is about 28-30% of our total budget unlike other programs/entities which their salaries are over 70% of their total budgets.
EPWWS has one of the lowest rates as you can see in the graphs. Even after 4 increases we still have one of the lowest rates compared to surrounding communities in South Texas.
EPWWS INVESTMENT IN THE COMMUNITY
EPWWS has wisely invested over $40,000,000 (forty million dollars) in 14,116 acre feet of water rights and still looking for more for benefit of our future generations.
EPWWS has invested over 160 million dollars in our community in the past 20 years. A new UF membrane water plant and an upgrade, new sewer plant, water lines rehabbing/upgrading, radio read water meters and automated meters, automated paying, rehabbing water tanks, new water tanks and many more things that we have implemented and upgraded throughout the years.
EPWWS is working on more projects for the future. For the next 20 years we are planning to invest over 100 million dollars in projects. These projects include replace the asbestos lines in the city at over 16 million dollars, upgrade and loop water lines in our system at over 15 million dollars, upgrade and rehab main sewer plant at over 8 million dollars, upgrade and replace old sewer lines at over 20 million dollars, buy more water rights at over 20 million dollars, upgrade and rehab lift stations at over 10 million dollars, build new water tanks at over 5 million dollars and other planned projects.
