Eagle Pass Independent School District Reported 41 Employees Testing Positive for COVID-19 from May 11 through August 18, 2020, Including Two Deaths

The Eagle Pass Business Journal, Inc. submitted a public information act request to the Eagle Pass Independent School District (EPISD) for the total number of employees to have been confirmed having tested positive for COVID-19 from March 1, 2020 to August 18, 2020 (before start of school year), and the District replied with a list of 41 employees (no names per privacy rules) that matched the Eagle Pass Business Journal’s request.
According to the public information provided by the EPISD, a total of 23 male and 18 female employees tested positive for COVID-19 during May 11, 2020 through August 19, 2020. Please note that these numbers does not include any new infections since August 19, 2020. These will be made available in the near future.
Of the total 41 EPISD employees testing positive for COVID-19 during May 11 through August 19, 2020, includes a total of 9 paraprofessionals, 8 custodians, 5 teachers, 5 Administration, 4 maintenance, 3 professionals, 3 cooks, 2 transportation, 1 peace officer, and 1 counselor.
Regrettably, two EPISD employees died from COVID-19 during the period of May 11 through August 19, 2020, a 51 year old male peace officer and a 46 year old male transportation employee.
The youngest person of this 41 EPISD employees was a 24 year old male paraprofessional and the oldest were a 75 year old male custodian and 75 year old male maintenance employee.
Among these 41 EPISD employees, the ages of the female employees were 27, 33, 37, 43, 43, 43, 45, 46, 50, 51, 54, 55, 60, 60, 60, 63, and 66. The median age of the females is 50.16 years old.
Among the males in these 41 EPISD employees, the ages include 24,26, 33, 33, 34, 34, 37, 39, 42, 43, 45, 46, 48, 50, 51, 55, 57, 62, 63, 66, 68, 75, and 75. The median age of the males is 48.08 years old.
The EPISD is collaborating with the City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County to ensure that all confirmed positive COVID-19 cases within the District are included in the overall county totals and to prevent the transmission of the deadly coronavirus within the community.
Once again, please note that these 41 EPISD employees infected with COVID-19 is only for the period of May 11 through August 19, 2020, according to the EPISD.
