Maverick County Primary Run-Off Election Final Results Reported

Approximately 11 percent of Maverick County’s 33,000 registered voters weathered the COVID-19 pandemic to cast their ballots to support the American democratic process during the Texas Primary Run-Off Election held on July 14, 2020 as 3,893 voters stepped up to democracy.
Maverick County Election Judge Arturo Delgado announced the following final results for the contested races on the July 14, 2020 Primary Run-Off Election.
For the United States Senate in the Democratic Party, Mary “MJ” Hegar garnered 1,709 votes compared to State Senator Royce West’s 1,262 votes.
In the Railroad Commission of Texas race in the Democratic Party, Roberto “Beto” Alonzo received 1,781 votes compared to Chrysta Castaneda’s 1,189 votes.
For the State Senate District 19 race in the Democratic Party, Xochil Pena Rodriguez garnered 1,795 votes compared to Roland Gutierrez’s 1,624 votes.
In the Maverick County Constable Precinct No. 1 race in the Democratic Party, Oscar “Ram” Ramos received 653 votes compared to Rudy Valdez’s 625 votes. Since there is no Republican Party candidate, Ramos presumedly is the winner in the November 3, 2020 election.
For the Maverick County Constable Precinct No. 2 race in the Democratic Party, Alberto “Beto” De La Torre garnered 659 votes compared to Denise Cantu’s 570 votes. Since there is no Republican Party candidate, De La Torre presumedly is the winner in the November 3, 2020 election.
In the Maverick Constable Precinct No. 4 race in the Democratic Party, Joe “Mike” Beattie received 547 votes compared to Hector “Big Rod” Rodriguez’s 384 votes. Likewise, since there is no Republican Party candidate, Beattie presumedly is the winner in the November 3, 2020 election.
In the Republican Party’s only contested race in Maverick County for the U.S. House of Representative District 23 between Raul Reyes and Tony Gonzales, Gonzales received 147 votes compared to Reyes’ 51 votes, according to Alfredo Arellano, Maverick County Republican Party Chairman.
Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson Juanita V. Martinez thanked all Maverick County registered voters who came out to vote and make a difference in democracy.
Statewide results for U.S. Senate, Railroad Commission of Texas, and State Senate District 19 races in the Democratic Party were not available as of press time.
