Financial Help for County Colonias

(Press Release) Because of the extraordinary need for financial assistance due to COVID-19, the state of Texas will provide assistance through the Emergency Services Help for Colonias Program in Maverick County. It is anticipated the program will assist approximately 538 households at a maximum of $500 in benefits per household. Maverick County has elected to initially to prioritize the residents of the colonias served by the current Self Center Contract: Lago Vista, Loma Bonita, South Elm Creek #1, Loma Linda and Chula Vista.
Commissioner Pct 4 Commissioner Roberto Ruiz was instrumental in renovating the contract with the state to reactivate the Self Help Center in the county. At the moment the Self Help Center in Loma Bonita is still under repairs. However, the estimated date is Saturday, August 1, 2020 for the center to open. The primary location for applicants to pick up and submit application will be the Maverick County Self-Help Center (SHC), Loma Bonita Colonia, 2064 Boulder Ridge Dr. The secondary location to pick up and submit applications include the Maverick County Judge’s Office, 500 Quarry St. and Service Center, 3095 Deer Run Blvd, South Elm Creek Colonia. In person application assistance will be available only at the Maverick County SHC. For further information the County Judge’s office 830-773-3824 will respond.
