Eagle Pass 19 Year Old Male Killed by Gunshot, Suspect Arrested After Fleeing

An Eagle Pass, Texas 19 year-old male, identified as Brian Davila, was allegedly shot by another male individual, identified as Luis Alonso Perez, Jr., in the head by gunfire at 4:46 P.M. on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at the intersection of El Indio Highway (FM 1021) and Mathiwos Street in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas.
Eagle Pass Police Department Officers arrived at the scene and encountered a male subject, Brian Davila, on the ground with a severe injury from an apparent gun shot.
The alleged suspect, Luis Alonso Perez, Jr., fled the scene of the crime in a vehicle, but witnesses identified him to Eagle Pass Police Officers investigating the shooting. A law enforcement lookout was placed for the alleged suspect. The suspect was later arrested by Maverick County Sheriff’s Department and Eagle Pass Police Department officers at a residence on Vista Bonita Drive and taken into custody at the Maverick County Tom Bowles Detention Center in Eagle Pass.
The victim, Brian Davila, was rushed to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center by ambulance, but Davila succumbed from the gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The alleged suspect, Luis Alonso Perez, Jr., was formally charged with murder and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of no bond after the victim, Brian Davila, was pronounced deceased at the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center by a Maverick County Justice of the Peace.
The incident has shocked the community, which occurred during broad daylight at a busy intersection bustling with traffic.
The case is under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Rangers.
